Sheds share knowledge on registering as a Charity Incorporated Organisation

Two men’s shed groups in Kirklees the Gomersal and Denby Dales groups are both working on registering with the Charity Commission as Charity Incorporated Organisations to give themselves both Charitable Status and Limited liability for their members.

With the help of Community First Yorkshire‘s Men’s Shed Development Officer Andy Ryland they are carefully working through the paper work and rather than reinventing the wheel the Sheds are being helped by other Men’s Shed groups who have been down the path already.

As Robert Barber, Chairman of the Denby Dale Group said:

“I think we are all grateful for the trailblazing of the Shed pioneers. I know that I have been helped massively by the Shed coordinators that I have met and spoken to on the phone.”
