Batley.
The PKWA have established a Men’s Shed which meets most Tuesdays at the Centre from 10:30 to 13:00. The centre plans to build a small woodworking workshop and they have a grant from Near Neighbours to help with this. Currently the men are enjoying socialising, playing cards and engaging in practical projects such making walking sticks. See the story of them gathering ash stick at Batley Station below: https://raymenshedskirklees.wordpress.com/2017/03/21/a-win-win-for-batley-mens-shed-men-and-the-friends-of-batley-station/

At the end of each session the men enjoy a curry cooked by volunteers at the PKWA. It’s a very welcoming group and all men are made very welcome. During Ramadan the shed is taking a break but will be meeting again once the season is over. Gomersal. A small group of men are meeting each Thursday morning in Park Grove Church, Oxford Road, Gomersal, BD19 4JR. It’s a very welcoming group, at the moment it’s more social chat as they plan the opening of the shed in July.  They have been offered the use of a disused class room in the school next to the church and plan to offer activities such as wood work, marquetry, model making and bike maintenance.  Have a look at the below link for a picture of the classroom which will become their base:  https://raymenshedskirklees.wordpress.com/2017/05/16/kirklees-offers-space-for-gomersal-mens-shed/

If any men are interested in joining this welcoming group contact Mike Atkinson on 07535 638927 or email the group on gomersalmensshed@gmail.com
